Dr. Daniel Kruk-Leahy (“Dr. Dan”) is a dedicated periodontist and implant dentist with dual citizenship in the United States and Costa Rica. He is fluent in both English and Spanish, reflecting his global perspective on dental care and education. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica with First Honors, he broadened his academic journey in the United States, completing UCLA’s Professional Program for International Dentists (D.D.S.) and graduating Cum Laude in 2021.
Dr. Dan pursued advanced training in periodontology and implantology at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (USC), culminating in his Periodontics Specialty Certificate and a Master of Science degree. During this three-year, 180-unit residency, he honed his expertise in periodontal, prosthodontic, and orthodontic multidisciplinary care, as well as IV Moderate Sedation. Throughout his academic endeavors, he earned multiple scholarships and awards, including the California Dental Association Outstanding Achievement Award, the Louis and Erma Feldman Endowed Scholarship, and as an inductee of the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society.
As a licensed practitioner in California, Dr. Kruk-Leahy holds memberships in key professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), Academy of Osseointegration (AO), American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), and others. His clinical experience spans positions as both an associate dentist and a periodontist in various California-based practices, where he routinely performs osseous surgeries, crown lengthening, implant site development, complex extractions, and full-mouth rehabilitation treatments (All-on-X, Overdentures, and more). His background also includes experience in oral surgery (complex treatment including impacted third molar extractions), restorative dentistry and endodontic therapy.
Dr. Dan is passionate about patient-centric, evidence-based care and frequently participates in community service projects. His outreach has included volunteering for organizations such as CDA Cares, ADA’s Give Kids A Smile, and remote medical brigades in Costa Rica.
